Gingerbread Spice


Forms of gingerbread have existed in Europe for over one thousand years and across the continent there continues to be numerous varieties of aromatically spiced baked goods bearing the name.

In the Netherland's it is a breakfast cake known as peperkoek. To the French it is the spiced bread, pain d'épices. And to the Germans it is a soft, decorated biscuit called Lebkuchen. But here in the UK, we tend to prefer a harder biscuit and can lay claim to being the home of the universally loved gingerbread man.
